Why we’re so excited for Legacy of Light by Matthew Ward

Matthew Ward’s Legacy series is epic AF and about to wrap up in 2021 with the release of Legacy of Light. With a big cast, epic storyline, and grim twists and turns at every corner, I’ve said it and I’ll say it again, this is a brilliant series to get into for Game of Thrones fans.

Legacy of Light by Matthew Ward

If this is the first you’re hearing of the Matthew Ward Legacy series, then you’re in for a treat. You can find our non-spoliery (as much as a review can be) reviews for Legacy of Ash and Legacy of Steel on our blog. You can also get started on the trilogy right now with an excerpt of Legacy of Ash over on Orbit’s blog.

I, for one, cannot wait to get my hands on the ARC and rip back into this world to see how Ward finishes the story. One thing I am pretty sure of, though, is that not all of the characters I care about are going to make it.

More about Legacy of Light

Legacy of Light is the spectacular conclusion to Matthew Ward’s acclaimed Legacy trilogy—an unmissable epic fantasy series of war and intrigue perfect for fans of George R. R. Martin, Brent Weeks, and Brandon Sanderson.

For the first time in many years, the Tressian Republic and the Hadari Empire are at peace. But darkness never sleeps.

In Tregard, Empress Melanna Saranal struggles to protect a throne won at great cost.

In Tressia, Lord Protector Viktor Droshna seeks to restore all he’s lost through forbidden means.

And as the sins of the past are once more laid bare, every road will lead to war.

Adrian Collins runs Grimdark Magazine and loves anything to do with telling darker stories. Doesn't matter the format, or when it was published or produced--just give him a grim story told in a dark world by a morally grey protagonist and this bloke's in his happy place. Add in a barrel aged stout to sip on after a cheeky body surf under the Australian sun, and that's his heaven.
